No other computing device is so |
taken for granted as the lowly mouse. With the exception of Microsoft's wheel mouse, personal computer mice haven't changed much at all in the past 30 years that is until now. Microsoft has come up with a mouse that doesn't look or act like an ordinary input device, especially the glowing red light that emanates from its bottom and befitting our high-tech era.
The IntelliMouse Explorer employs an optical sensor that takes 1,500 snapshots every second and a digital signal processor that analyzes those images and translates them into movement. Microsoft claims that this process makes mice equipped with the IntelliEye technology about 12 times as fast and precise as ordinary mice. It doesn't get sidelined by dirt, excessive wear and it works on virtually any surface--desktop, paper, even your blue jeans--without a mouse pad.
In addition to the left and right buttons and scroll wheel, the IntelliMouse Explorer includes two buttons positioned where your thumb normally rests on this ergonomically correct mouse. By default, these side buttons are configured to enable you to go forward or back when browsing Web pages.
The IntelliMouse Explorer can be connected to your system via either a PS/2 or USB port. Macintosh users running MacOS 8.51 or later and with a USB port can also use the IntelliMouse Explorer.
